Digital Correspondence The recently released communications demonstrated that Summers communicated with Jeffrey Epstein until the 24 hours preceding Epstein's 2019 detention for accused trafficking of minors. In another announcement, the artificial intelligence company expressed it understood the economist's choice to resign. "We appreciate his numerous inputs and the viewpoint he offered to the directors," OpenAI remarked. Political Context This development arrives after the two houses of the US legislature voted on this week to endorse a measure that would mandate the Department of Justice to make public its files on Epstein. Additional Consequences Following the economist's announcement on Monday, the Washington think tank, a left-leaning research organization in DC where Summers was a researcher, confirmed that Summers was no longer associated with the institution.
